We are so excited to announce this new camp option; combining a classic week of camp with an educational clinic-style western adventure!
We have paired up with several guest clinicians to offer a camp week geared towards campers who want to take their love of horses farther. This camp is for anyone who would like to move beyond being a passenger in the saddle and towards a knowledgeable horse person with improved riding skills!
Registration opens Jan 20, 2025 to a limited number of participants. The group sizes will be small, so don’t wait to get yourself involved! It is open to grades 9-12.
Participants can bring their own horse or reserve a camp horse! A horse information form will be sent to participants providing their own horse and must be completed. Horses will be required to be saddle broke, sound, and safe; no stallions and a minimum age of 5 years old. Individual paddocks and tack room space is available.
Camp starts July 6 with our family BBQ and supper at 5:00pm and ends on July 11th at 5:00pm. Horse haul in times can be prearranged with the barn manager. This is an overnight camp with food and bunkhouse lodging provided.
Campers can expect 5.5 action packed days! Our head clinician is Win Furman, biography below, who will be teaching the under saddle sessions. She will assess where participants are at in their horsemanship and help them progress. Topics may include safe handling and common mistakes, troubleshooting behaviours, overcoming obstacles, western equitation, or reining basics. Several guest clinicians will also be brought in to teach on a variety of topics including Safety and Etiquette, Saddle Fitting, Hoof Anatomy and Care, Bodywork/Chiropractic Care and Stretching, Roping, Leadership in the round pen and First Aid and Health Care. The evenings will be filled with campfires, chapels, games, crafts, social activities and so much more.
