Modified Sunday Morning Services
FBC is beginning modified Sunday morning services starting in August! We’ve had a lot of questions as we have tried to figure out how to hold services while cooperating with all the regulations around meeting, and so we are guessing you have some questions too! We’re hoping the following gives you the information you need.
What does ‘modified’ mean?
You can still expect music and a message on Sunday morning, but our actions in and around the church will be much more directed than we are used to. For starters, we will have limitations on how many people can be in the building at a time. To avoid having to turn anyone away at the door, we will be doing online registration for services. Your household group will be able to sign up week by week to attend the service that works best for you.
We will be arranging our spaces and directing movement within the building to ensure that social distancing of six feet between household groups is observed at all times helping to prevent the spread of infection. This will take some time, so make sure you come a few minutes early for your service.
When you arrive at church, everyone will enter through the main entrance at the south side of the building. Again, please remember to leave six feet between household groups while waiting to enter. After entering the building our usher team will direct household groups to their seats. Unfortunately this means you won't be able to choose your regular spot. Following the service, sections will be dismissed one at a time out of designated doors.
Are masks and hand sanitizer available at the church?
We will have hand sanitizer and masks available upon your entrance. If you have your own mask, please bring it. If not, we will have medical grade masks available free of charge. The wearing of masks is encouraged at all times but is mandatory if you plan on participating in the singing.
What are the service times?
We will launch our modified Sunday morning services with one service at 9:20 a.m. on August 2. This will give us a chance to test out our plans to ensure that we are creating a space that is safe and comfortable for all. Keep up to date on dates and time for future services by checking in regularly with our calendar.
How do I sign up to attend a service?
Sunday morning service registration will be available the Monday preceding the service here. We will also send the registration link via email to our email list each week when registration is available. If we have reached our capacity before you register, you will be able to register for a wait list and we will notify you if space opens for your household group to attend.
If you aren’t comfortable using the online registration form, just contact the office during regular office hours for information about service times and to register.
Can anyone attend the services?
We are excited to see both well-known and new faces when our doors open! Each individual will be responsible to do a self-assessment to ensure that it is safe for them to attend.
Please click here to do a self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone with any of these symptoms should stay home.
Please click here for a list of individuals who are vulnerable to contracting COVID-19. We encourage those who are vulnerable to stay home and continue to take in our online service.
If I’m not comfortable coming to church, can I still take in the service online?
Absolutely! Our services will be recorded and made available online at a later time on our YouTube channel.
Will coffee be served?
No, we will not be serving coffee at our modified Sunday morning services but you are more than welcome to bring your own.
Can we use the washrooms at church?
Yes, our bathrooms will be open with a maximum capacity posted.
What can my kids do during the service?
There will be no FBC KIDS at this time and children will be required to stay with their household group at all time before, during, and after the service. If you are wondering what your kids can do during the service, here are a few suggestions:
Bring a device and headphones for your child to view their FBC KIDS video (available on the website or app) while you take in the service. Please note that there is no public wi-fi in the church. If you are looking for a data free option, you can download some of the Christian children’s content on RightNow Media at home for your child to watch during the sermon.
You can also print your elementary child's God Time sheet at home for them to do at church. Be sure to bring any writing or colouring utensils they will need to complete the activities.
We will keep you posted as we make plans to relaunch FBC KIDS.
How can I give once modified Sunday morning services resume?
Online giving on the website or app is always available. We will have drop off boxes available on Sunday morning for cheque and cash donations. Our point of sale machine will also be available on Sunday mornings for giving by debit or credit. As always, cheques can be dropped off in the outside mailbox or at the church office during the week.
What other measures are you taking to prevent the spread of infection?
We will be cleaning all frequently touched surfaces and bathrooms between services.
If you have other questions regarding our modified Sunday morning services, please contact the church office.
