Pitch-In Sunday

what's it all about?

The City of Lloydminster has designated May 1 - 7 as “Pitch-In Week” for our community. During that week, different initiatives are undertaken to clean up our city after the winter and to spruce up things for the summer ahead. This presents us with a great opportunity as a church community to be a part of our civic community and to be of service to our neighbors in a tangible way. With that in mind, we approached the City of Lloydminster and Lakeland College and they have enthusiastically agreed to have us a partner with them to clean up the community.

what's the plan?

On Sunday, May 7th, we will all meet at Bud Miller Park Centre at 10:00 am (Note: There will be no FBC KIDS programs that week). The Advance Team will be ready with garbage bags and directions on where we will be assigned to clean. Once you park, head to the Park Centre and check in at the sign-in table to pick up your garbage bag and map of which area you are to work in. There will be Zone Leaders in each area that will be able to provide assistance if you have any questions.

We will take the next hour and a half or so to make Bud Miller and Lakeland College shine. Together we can make a real contribution to our community as we take one of Lloydminster’s prime locations and help it to meet all of its potential.

And after we work… we need to EAT!

Once we are done cleaning, we are going to enjoy a big BBQ lunch together! Back at the Bud Miller Picnic Shelter, the BBQ Team will have the burgers and hotdogs ready to go and we will be able to share some good times and food together. There will also be bouncy houses for the kids to enjoy! We would like to encourage you to invite your friends and neighbors to the park for a burger after the clean up. What a great way to introduce them to FBC!

There will be something to do for the whole family from our kids to our seniors.  Even if you have physical limitations* we can find you a spot so plan to come out and be a part of our crew. We need you to make this a real success and together this is going to be amazing.

Be sure to wear your work clothes and bring your work gloves. If you have rubber boots, this would be a great time to put them to use. If you can bring a rake that would be great as we would like to clean up the lawns right around the Park Centre, and don’t forget to bring Lawn Chairs for our BBQ.
